Fulham have won 28 points in 18 league matches this season (W8 D4 L6), already equalling their points total from their previous top-flight campaign in 2020-21 (W5 D13 L20). No current Premier League side has earned fewer wins or scored fewer goals in their past eight games than Chelsea (W1 D3 L4 F5 A9). Indeed, this is the first time the Blues have only had one win over eight league matches since October to December 2012. Image source, Getty ImagesFulham boss Marco Silva's trust in his promotion-winning players is the driving force behind the Cottagers' impressive Premier League season, according to The Far Post podcast team. The west London outfit have been a yo-yo side over recent years, but their brief spells in the top flight have tended to involve a squad overhaul in between campaigns. Silva has resisted the temptation to tinker with his troops and Fulham fans are now dreaming of European qualification, sitting in seventh - level on points with Liverpool - going into Thursday's league game against Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Clearly, not having Aleksandar Mitrovic is a major blow. His yellow card against Leicester City was extremely harsh and he'd have been a huge asset. It is a massive test for Carlos Vinicius to prove the doubters wrong. Chelsea have been struggling for goals, so the key will be to keep the game tight and make use of set-pieces, from which we've been lethal of late.
"He throws me back to the days when you could make a challenge. He goes to ground and isn't afraid of taking a booking if he mistimes it. I’ve been really impressed with him. Since the restart we've picked up three league wins and comfortably progressed in the FA Cup. We've only conceded once - and even that was a James Ward-Prowse free-kick we couldn't have done much about.
It feels like Fulham's achievements are going under the radar. Brentford's high-profile scalps and Brighton's swagger are getting headlines, while most Fulham discussion seems to be a brief: "Oh yeah, Fulham are good, aren't they? "However, if Fulham win Thursday's SW6 derby against Chelsea, I'm sure that will change. I'm never confident playing them. We have only beaten them once in my lifetime - and that was more than 15 years ago. That being said, there has surely never been a better time to play them. I couldn't tell you the last time we went into a game ahead of them in the table.
